There are a number of ways available for you to connect to your InvizBox 2. As part of this article, we will also make sure you are not connected to your home router.
You are connecting using an Ethernet cable
Make sure that:
- One end of the Ethernet cable is plugged in your computer (or something like a USB network adapter if your computer doesn't have a built-in port)
- The other end is connected to one of the black Ethernet ports at the back of your InvizBox 2 labelled LAN
You are connecting over WiFi
Here is some things that you can check to see that you are connected to a hotspot from your InvizBox 2:
- Check what the name of the Hotspot your are connected to is. It should match the name of a network from your InvizBox. (Note: If you are connected to a 5GHz network, the hotspot name will have an additional "5GHz" at the end)
- Open a browser and access the Administration Interface on http://inviz.box (or http://10.154.0.1 if you are connecting to the default network and the previous URL didn't work). If you reach the login page, it guarantees that your are on an InvizBox 2 hotspot
- Check that your current IP address starts with "10.154". Anything else like "192.168.0.12" or "10.10.10.55" means that you are definitely not connected to your InvizBox.
- Login to the Administration Interface from another device and check either the Device or the Network pages. They should show the correct device as connected to the correct network (Note: for technical reasons, some devices do not currently show up when connected - this is mostly the case for Windows devices and we are working at fixing this)
I was not connected to my InvizBox 2 and thought I was
After checking the above, you believe that your device is in fact not connected to your InvizBox 2:
- Check that you are not connected to another network at the same time. Typically, this means 4G for mobile/tablet, Ethernet cable or WiFi for laptops. Most modern devices can be connected to multiple networks at the same time and will use two connections when they can. If you find that is the case, disconnect from these other networks.
- Check that your device did not switch to another network when the InvizBox got restarted/rebooted. To avoid this, we recommend that you forget all hotspots that are not the ones you want your device to connect to (e.g. your home router or a local public WiFi).
Note: To make sure your InvizBox 2 connects to the Internet, check that the yellow port at the back of the InvizBox 2 is connected to your home router using another Ethernet cable.
